Connection Through Conversations

It has been a whirlwind number of weeks on the campaign trail. I decided early on that I would not be going door to door knocking to speak to individuals. It has sparked a bit of chatter but my reasoning is simple. I want to respect the privacy of all that live in our community.

Campaigning is not like it used to be. People lives are busy with jobs, families and social commitments. Instead, I had friends help me out by dropping off postcards and door handle cards. I also got out and did some mailbox drops with Boston and had great conversations with people we met when out and about!!

I held 4 Pop Up “Connection Through Conversations” event that brought out residents who were there to simply support me, to meet me for the first time and to ask some tough questions and hear my responses.

Pop Up #1 and #2 were held at Square Brew on two consecutive Sunday’s and the conversations were very interesting. Transportation (or lack thereof), road safety, road construction, and of course the property tax. Such great information and ideas shared. Thank you Alex and staff for providing the space for me to hold these pop ups!

Pop Up #3 was held at Chucks Roadhouse and even though it was quiet on attendance, those that did come shared their concerns around recreation and the Y. Thanks to Vlorat and Arta for hosting as well.

Pop Up #4 was at The Den in the downtown core and it is such a cozy space. You have to check it out. A great turnout and round table discussion was had. Some more creative ideas were shared and I will take those to heart.

The support of all the venues and everyone who showed up has been incredible.

In between these events, I had the opportunity also to speak at Goderich Place Retirement and Harbour Hill Retirement homes and I gotta say, a feisty, engaged and passionate group of men and women!

I was also joined by other candidates as they sparked an interest in getting out and meeting residents that they may not have had a chance otherwise. We all were our own individuals sharing our own platforms and there was never an intention to “join forces” and try to attempt to sway the voters of the town of Goderich.

I have attended one Councillor Candidate debate and there is one more where all the candidates on the list will be present. It is being held on Tuesday October 13, 2027 at 7 PM at GDCI.

Here are some snippits for you to enjoy!!
