I believe public service starts with listening.

For most of my adult life, I have worked in roles where people depend on you to show up, stay calm, ask the right questions and make thoughtful decisions.

That experience has shaped the way I approach my work as a Councillor.

I try to listen carefully, understand the issue in front of me and make decisions based on the best information available.

I also believe it is important to remain curious.

There is always more to learn.

A Career of Service

Before being elected to Goderich Town Council, I spent 35 years working as a Primary Care Paramedic.

That career taught me the value of teamwork, communication, responsibility and making decisions under pressure.

It also taught me that every person has a story and that sometimes the most important thing you can do is simply listen.

I later had the opportunity to teach Emergency Telecommunications at Fanshawe College, where I worked with students preparing for careers in public safety.

Teaching reinforced something I continue to believe strongly:

Good decisions begin with good questions.

Serving Goderich

I was elected to Goderich Town Council in 2022.

Since then, I have had the opportunity to serve our community through Council, committees, public meetings, conferences and countless conversations with residents.

Municipal government is complex.

There are financial realities, infrastructure needs, competing priorities and decisions that can affect our community for decades.

I do not believe a Councillor should pretend to have every answer.

I believe our job is to prepare, ask questions, listen to experts and residents, consider different perspectives and then make the best decision we can.

I am one person with one vote.

But I take that vote seriously.

Community Involvement

My involvement in Goderich extends well beyond the Council table.

Over the years, I have volunteered with and supported organizations focused on community service, health care, mental health awareness, support for first responders and veterans, and the safety and dignity of women in our communities.

I believe strong communities are built by people who are willing to participate.

Sometimes that means leading.

Sometimes it means helping behind the scenes.

And sometimes it simply means showing up.

What You Can Expect From Me

If I am fortunate enough to serve another term, I will continue to approach the role in the same way:

I will listen.

I will ask questions.

I will do my homework.

I will continue learning.

I will treat people with respect.

And I will work hard for Goderich.

Why I’m Running Again

I am proud of what I have learned during my first term, but I know there is still much more work ahead.

The next Council will face important decisions about infrastructure, municipal finances, services, growth and the long-term future of our community.

I believe the experience I have gained over the past four years will help me contribute even more effectively during the next term.

That is why I am asking the residents of Goderich for the opportunity to continue serving as your Councillor.
